Turntables is a newsletter about music and food by journalist, DJ, and recipe developer Gabriella Lewis.
New recipes, restaurant + food-related recommendations, and playlists are published on the first Friday of each month.
Fostering a deep love for music before she could speak, Gabriella spent countless hours burning obsessively curated CDs for friends as a child (shout out L*meWire). Later, in college, she worked as a DJ for her college radio station, graduating and producing content for Pitchfork with some of her favorite musicians. Somewhere along her journey, she found cooking, became hooked, and determined to find a way to blend the two. (Spoiler alert: she found a way!)
Now, Gabriella spends 9 to 5 as an Emmy-nominated journalist and recipe developer and 5 to 9 as a professional DJ in NYC. She has written and produced work around the globe for publications like The New York Times Cooking, Bon Appétit, Epicurious, Vogue, BuzzFeed, Vanity Fair, and VICE. She is also the Creative Director of the queer food zine PLAY.
Turntables is for the people. It exists as a space to introduce y’all to music, food, and flavor combinations you might not find on your own. It’s a place where all things music and food can finally co-exist, intersect, and have their own dialogue.
